Local prostate cancer survivor Linton Blackwell continues to rack up the kilometres and the dollars as he now sits in the top five nationally for the Long Run.
The event sees participants encouraged to walk or run 72km throughout September to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. The 72km represents the number of men diagnosed with prostate cancer each day.
A $10,000 donation from the Baw Baw Big Blokes BBQ propelled Linton into fifth place, having now raised more than $15,000 for prostate cancer research.
Linton, who has raised more than $25,000 over the past five years, walked more than 450km across the month.
He and his wife run the Baw Baw Prostate Cancer Support Group, which holds meetings in Warragul.
At Friday's Big Blokes BBQ, Linton was presented with a cheque and a certificate of appreciation from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
