Flags of Hope project

A new art project dedicated to shining a light on hope during trying times will be opened at Civic Park Warragul on Friday.
Titled "Flags of Hope", local artists Sue Acheson, Russell Lilford and Jessie McLennan created the art project in response to a world distorted by greed, corruption and self absorption, narcissism, misuse of power and increased natural disasters.
Local creative people were asked to provide a message of hope in the form of a painted flag or two, to send goodwill, healing, peace and hope into the world.
The project is based on the concept of Buddhist prayer flags - the words and images on each Flag of Hope will send messages of goodwill around the world as they blow in the wind, helping to bring positive energy to the increasingly negative world.
An opening celebration for the Flags of Hope art project will be held at Civic Park Warragul on Friday between 1:30 and 3:30pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
The flags will stay in the park for viewing and contemplation until September.
