Thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes were reported stolen from FoodWorks in Yarragon on Wednesday morning.
Police attended the Princes Hwy supermarket and located a white Nissan utility with a man inside. However, the man fled along the highway towards Moe.
The burglary occurred at 4am.
Police believe a man forced entry by smashing the front glass doors. Further damage was caused to drawers inside the supermarket.
