A men's social group is being created by the Warragul Community House following significant community feedback.

The response was strong after the question was asked what the local community needed and wanted.

Both men and women suggested a general social group where men could meet and chat with other men.

As a result, the new group will launch in term four, in October and will be held from 4pm to 6pm on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

It will be facilitated by local teacher and volunteer Phil Ashcroft.

WCH manager Shaun Mallia said the idea was to create a relaxed space where men could connect and make new friends.

"The way the social club would be built is that week to week is something different, depending on what the group wants to do."

"It will be a social friendly group for men of all ages to come and enjoy."

The first get together will be a barbecue held in the park behind WCH, where men can meet, get to know each other and discuss what they'd like to do.

Phil and Shaun will then take on the suggestions and work out a schedule.

"Part of the philosophy here at the house is that we may have an idea of what we want to do, but it's the community that tells us. So, it's just going to be a moving beast, and it will change as it goes, which is great.

"It's just another opportunity for men to get together, make friends, participate in activities, help out other groups and have fun.

"The key thing is to have fun," Shaun said.
