Mobility parks for WLC

Warragul Leisure Centre (WLC) has better access for those who need it, with three new priority mobility parking spaces made permanent at the site, following a successful trial.
The three priority spaces are in addition to four disability spaces at the front of the leisure centre and four disability spaces beside the stadium.
The spaces help people with mobility issues park closer to the entrance and provide easier access to the centre for fitness, wellbeing or injury recovery.
Council reported the trial showed the spaces were predominately utilised by patrons who accessing the warm water pool for rehabilitation, recovery and in support of physiotherapy programs.
The trial for the additional mobility parks began in August last year.
The spaces have been well used each day on a consistent basis, predominately by patrons who are accessing the warm water pool for rehabilitation, recovery and in support of physiotherapy programs.
Fifteen people responded to the survey, nine of those were online via Baw Baw Connect and six people filled in the hard copy at WLC.
Council stated that most of the feedback was positive and as a result, an operational decision was made by council to permanently keep the mobility parking spaces in place.
The new spaces, featuring teal stencil markings, utilise existing parallel parking closest to the main entrance.
