Identical twins Connor and Luke Ibbotson of Warragul could only laugh as they compared their VCE results early on Wednesday morning.
After studying the same subjects, in the same classes and using a little good-humoured sibling competitiveness for motivation, Connor and Luke agreed achieving an identical ATAR score of 99.60 was the perfect outcome.
As a result, Connor and Luke shared the St Paul’s Anglican Grammar dux award and the highest score in West Gippsland.
Connor said his first reaction was, “wow are these really mine?”
He had logged in early to find out his results before running into Luke’s room who was about 10 minutes behind.
“He just looked at mine and laughed,” Luke said as the study scores were released first followed by the ATAR.
Although neither secured bragging rights over the other, Connor was quick to point out he held the slightly higher aggregate score by just 0.3 before Luke noted he was the only one to achieve a perfect study score – 50 in chemistry.
