Lock up to avoid thefts

Police are investigating a series of thefts from cars in Warragul, Drouin and Trafalgar last week.

Two vehicles parked in a Henley Ave driveway in Warragul were searched through between midnight and 8am last Tuesday. A garage remote was stolen from a Kia Sportage while fuels cards and keys to a business were taken from a Mitsubishi Outlander.

An Izusu MU-X was broken into in Skyline Drv, Warragul between 7pm on September 22 and 2.45am on September 23. Contractor cards and documentation were taken, as well as a Ryobi drill, and socket set.

Police are investigating if the thefts are linked based on the close proximity.
Registration plates were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway on School Rd, Trafalgar, overnight on Thursday. The plates, JEN 087, were previously registered to a white Toyota Prado.

At Warragul Lifestyle Village, in Warragul-Lardner Rd, a wallet containing about $550 in cash was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The wallet was later handed in at Drouin Police Station, but the cash was missing.

Police urged motorists to lock their vehicles, remove valuables from view and avoid leaving keys, important documents or garage remotes inside. They also recommended securing toolboxes and considering anti-theft screws for number plates.
