Have a say on Tynong's future

Cardinia Shire Council is calling on community members to have their say on future planning for Tynong.

Surrounded by green wedge land and productive farmland, Tynong is known for its rural character, open landscapes and strong community spirit.

As Cardinia Shire continues to grow, council is preparing a policy statement for Tynong to guide future planning, land use and development decisions for the township.

To help plan for Tynong's future, council wants to hear from the community about what they value, what could be improved, and what they would like the township to look like in the years ahead.

From now until October 12, community members are encouraged to share their ideas and feedback. Whether you've lived in Tynong for years, recently moved to the area, run a local business or regularly visit the township, your feedback can help inform a long-term vision for the township and identify priorities that will help shape its future.

Feedback will help council understand what is important to the community and inform future planning for topics such as township character, housing, connectivity, public spaces, the natural environment and community facilities. It will also help establish a shared vision for Tynong and provide direction for how the township should grow and change over time.
To learn more about the Tynong Policy Statement development, drop-in sessions will be held at Tynong Town Hall on:
Monday, October 5 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Tuesday, October 6 from 6pm to 8pm
With support from the State Government's Tiny Towns Fund, council is expected to develop a background report and policy statement for Tynong in 2027.
Once developed, the Tynong Policy Statement will be included as part of the Cardinia Planning Scheme, where it will serve as a strategic reference for council, the community, landowners and developers when considering future land use and development proposals.
