Local arrests in Taskforce Hawk

Detectives from Taskforce Hawk arrested five men on Monday following an investigation into secret commissions, fraud, and drug trafficking within the construction industry.

The operation involved search warrants at residential addresses across the region, including Westbury and Powelltown.

Among those arrested were a 46-year-old Westbury man, charged with firearm and ammunition storage offences and a 56-year-old man from Powelltown who was released pending further inquiries.

The Westbury man was bailed to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court on January 11, 2027.
The investigation, supported by the Latrobe Valley Crime Investigation Unit, targets organised crime and corruption linked to the construction sector.
Authorities seized various items, including four CFMEU registered vehicles, electronic devices, and a firearm, as part of a broader effort to dismantle criminal activity and corruption within the construction sector.
Taskforce Hawk was established in July 2024, and continues to investigate organised crime associated with the construction sector, including a focus on individuals employed within the construction industry who have known links to outlaw motorcycle gangs.
