A St Paul's Anglican Grammar School Sport Aerobics team has once again achieved a podium placement at the School Aerobics National Championships in Adelaide.
Team "Saintly Ladies" achieved third place at the national level, coming home with the bronze medal in their division.
Months of diligent early morning training since February paid off for the team, who had previously qualified for the nationals in June with a second-place victory in the state competition's Open B section.
Sport aerobics captain Lucy McKenzie expressed her pride in the team's performance.
"In a stressful atmosphere, we focused on what we had trained for, and after a strong emotional performance, it was an honour to receive a national bronze medal," she said.
"It was an amazing experience to perform and receive an award on the national stage and receiving such an amazing result made it even more exciting."
The popularity of sport aerobics has grown over the years and this year St Paul's had four teams competing at the regional and state championship levels.
"All the girls did incredibly well this year and it was an honour to be a part of the 2023 season. I hope next year proves to be just as rewarding," Lucy said.
There is also a special connection between sport aerobic students and the coaching team, with three coaches being former sport aerobics students.
Bella Fraser, Jorgia Neyland and Charlotte Fraser returned to St Paul's to coach the teams, along with Chelsea Spencer.
Sport aerobics is one of the co-curricular activities offered at St Paul's, promoting wellbeing via fitness, strength and technique development while fostering new friendships and teamwork among students.
