Drugs seized after search of vehicles

Police patrolling Longwarry Rd in Drouin made a proactive arrest after investigating a vehicle out of the ordinary early last Tuesday.
Officers noticed an orange Ford Ranger parked facing the wrong way on a roadside.
Police said officers saw what appeared to be drug paraphernalia located in the centre console, and after searching the surrounding area located a 36-year-old Drouin man.
The man was found hiding behind a tree stump, with the keys to the vehicle nearby.
Police said it appeared the man had been cutting firewood near where the car was parked.
Police seized a large quantity of cash, and a satchel allegedly containing drugs.
The man was charged with offences including trafficking methamphetamine, dealing with proceeds of crime, and possessing the drug butanediol (GHB).
Police also are investigating the collection of firewood at the site.
The man was bailed to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court at a later date.
Later, in a similar incident, a 22-year old Noble Park man was charged after police allegedly caught him using stolen number plates at a Longwarry Ampol service station at 2am Sunday morning.
A patrol unit travelling eastbound saw the registration plates, which were allegedly stolen from a Subaru Outback parked at the Warragul Railway Station a day earlier.
Police located the driver in the service station where he was arrested.
The man was wanted by police for unrelated outstanding matters.
A search of the vehicle located a small quantity of drugs and another (single) stolen number plate.
The offender was charged and bailed to Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court.
