Celebrating 27 years of dairy and farming

The South Gippsland Dairy and Farming Expo will be celebrating its 27th year, showcasing the latest products, technology, services and innovations of Australia's dairy and farming industries, held at the Korumburra Showgrounds on Wednesday and Thursday.
Hosted by the Strzelecki Lions Club, the expo continues to bring together farmers, industry professionals, exhibitors and rural communities from across Victoria for two days of learning, networking and fun.
With dozens of exhibitors from across Australia, visitors will have a unique opportunity to compare products, explore new technologies, discover innovative farming solutions and speak directly with the people behind the industry's leading brands, all in one place.
There are two new events this year including the Dairy Expo Clearing Sale and the Dairy Legends Breakfast.
The clearing sale, sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions, will feature a range of quality farm equipment, machinery and essential rural items, and vendors with quality farm equipment are encouraged to contact the event secretary.
Every item sold will help invest in the future of the dairy industry with proceeds supporting the Gardiner Foundation New Zealand Study Tour.
The sale will begin at 10.30am on Wednesday September 2.
The Dairy Legends Breakfast will bring together farmers, service providers and industry friends for a relaxed morning of conversation, connection and plenty of laughs.
Guests will enjoy a live auction featuring one-of-a-kind caricatures of well-known dairy personalities, with proceeds again supporting the Gardiner Foundation New Zealand Study Tour. The event is supported by the Look over the Farm Gate Grant and South Gippsland Shire Council and will be held from 8 am on Thursday. The ever-popular Udder Truth Show bag Competition returns this year, sponsored by South East Organic Fertilizer.
Attendees can collect a show bag at the gate, answer 17 of the 20 questions, visit participating exhibitors to collect stamps and return the completed entry.
Prize pool: first prize – $3000, second prize – $1500 and third prize – $500.
There is no cost to enter, and participants don't need to be present at the draw to win.
The famous Gumboot Gift, one of the expo's most entertaining spectator events will be held at 1.30pm on Thursday, September 3, offering a $4,000 prize pool across male and female sections.
Competitors simply need to bring a pair of genuine farm gumboots and an "I can win" attitude.
The kids enjoy free face painting, sponsored by Poowong Dairy & Hardware, and the whole family can explore an impressive range of machinery, livestock equipment, interactive displays and the latest innovations from across the agricultural industry.
The expo has become one of Gippsland's premier agricultural events, with funds raised contributing more than $650,000 back into the local community through Lions projects and community initiatives.
The South Gippsland Dairy & Farming Expo will be on Wednesday and Thursday 2 -3 September, from 10 am – 3 pm daily at the Korumburra Showgrounds.
Entry: $15 per person. Children under 16 are free.
