Rock with Chocolate Starfish in Warragul

Australian rock band Chocolate Starfish will take to the West Gippsland Arts Centre stage on Saturday August 31 as part of its 30th anniversary tour, "The Best of Everything".
Featuring performances of hits from its self-titled debut album and favourites from albums "Box", "Spider", "Primitive" and "The Beautiful Addiction", the tour is a celebration of all things Chocolate Starfish.
Chocolate Starfish front man Adam Thompson said the band was excited to welcome younger music fans.

"We love that we're winning new fans with every performance and welcome the latecomers – or next gen - with open arms," he said. "Our audience is the centrepiece of the Starfish experience. We perform with them, not for them. They deserve the 'best of everything' – so that's what we will give them."
With a 30 year long career, Adam said he and the band still had "pinch me" moments when they walked on stage.
"It's a real pinch me moment when we walk out to huge crowds," he said. "Thirty years in you might think crowds would be dwindling, but we're finding quite the opposite."
Joining the band on stage for a cameo performance are Gippsland's own Baw Baw Singers.
Musical director Libby Willems said the Baw Baw Singers are eager to lend their voices to the iconic Aussie band.
"I said to the Baw Baw Singers, 'this is going to be fun, you're going to love it,'" she said. "They're really excited, I was having trouble keeping them quiet as we were rehearsing."
The Baw Baw Singers will join the band for the final song of their acoustic set.
"The first set is an acoustic set and they (the band) were seeking the support of local choirs on their tour to help them with the closing song of the first set," Libby said
"We will join in on one of the songs to end the first half of the show on a really big note."
Libby said the opportunity to perform with Chocolate Starfish popped up "out of the blue".
"The band must have done some googling of the local choirs along their tour route, we just received an email out of the blue," she said. "For a local choir, this is a novel thing for us to do, it's not often that we get to join people on stage who are so professional and have such a long career. It was just thrilling to have this opportunity."
In true Baw Baw Singers style, Libby said the group were eager to get in and "give it a go".
"At first people weren't sure about what the opportunity was, but I was able to reassure them that this would be a good solid and enjoyable opportunity," she said. "As each week goes on and it comes together, the excitement is building and building."
Libby said audiences could expect to feel happy and uplifted by the Baw Baw Singers' performance.
"When Baw Baw Singers step in to support (Chocolate Starfish) it will bring smiles and happiness," Libby said. "It will set everyone up for the big lift heading into the second part of the show."
Ahead of their performance, Libby said she was looking forward to watching the Baw Baw Singers take on something new.
"Personally, it's a thrill to be near Chocolate Starfish who have made a career out of their music, it's amazing to watch them work," Libby said. "But the thing that I really love is seeing my Baw Baw Singers step up into something they've never done before. To see people do new things, challenge themselves and do something they never thought they'd do is really hand on heart my favourite thing."
Chocolate Starfish's "The Best of Everything" 30th anniversary tour will perform at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Saturday August 31 from 7:30pm.
