Marist-Sion College celebrated its 50th anniversary recently with a special performance evening at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
The event brought together past and present staff, students, and community members for an evening of music, memories, and celebration.
The performance evening was a highlight in a year-long series of events, all aimed at honouring half a century of education and community spirit.
Attendees were treated to a night of song and storytelling that showcased the talent, heart, and history of the college community.
Principal Lisa Harkin described the night as "a moving tribute to the college's legacy and the generations of students and educators who have shaped it."
A huge thank you was extended to all who attended, supported, and contributed to the show, particularly Louise Haley and Sharryn Marshall, whose outstanding leadership brought the night to life.
The college also acknowledged the dedicated team of staff, students, alumni and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make the event a resounding success.
While the anniversary marks 50 years since the formation of Marist-Sion College, the college's heritage stretches back even further.
Marist-Sion College has its origins in two colleges in Warragul, St Joseph's College for boys, founded in 1951 and Our Lady of Sion College for girls, founded in 1905.
Since the amalgamation of the two colleges in 1975, Marist-Sion College has been committed to the ideals of the two founding religious orders; the pursuit of justice, peace and love in the world and the nurturing of a family spirit which is evident in our openness to others, our warmth and friendliness.
Anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the year, with a community open day planned for Sunday, October 26 when community members will be invited to visit the Burke St campus to reconnect, explore, and celebrate the past, present, and future of Marist-Sion College.
