Yarragon recognises its stellar netball juniors
1 min read

Yarragon junior netballers have been recognised for a stellar season at the club’s Junior Netball Presentation Day.

The 13&Unders were a particular standout, who were named Minor Premiers after going undefeated for the entire season in the EDNA.

The youngsters showed their dominance on the court throughout winter, winning their games by a 30-goal margin on average and taking out the EDNA Goal Throwing Award.

“We know you would have gone all the way and we wish we had of been able to cheer you on from the sidelines but unfortunately we just couldn’t get the finals series across the line,” Yarragon Netball Club Vice President Renee Kemp said at the Presentation Day.

Courtney McWhinney was awarded the overall Best and Fairest for the EDNA 13&Unders as well as the club’s Best and Fairest. Runners up went to Olivia Ambler, and Gracie Sanders won the 13&Under Coaches Award.

Mischa Moore also received the overall Best and Fairest for the Warragul and District Netball Association 13&Unders.

A long list of juniors made representative teams in both the EDNA and the WDNA. Olivia Ambler, Lanah Hill, Courtney McWhinney, Tannah Orgill, and Gracie Sanders made the EDNA’s 13&Under team, and Mischa Moore made the WDNA representative team.

Amelia Riddle was awarded Yarragon’s 15&Under Best and Fairest and Ali Wilms received runners up, both made the 15&Under EDNA team. Jasmine Asmussen received the Coaches Award.

In the 17&Unders, Evelyn Armstrong polled the highest out of her teammates and Livinia Armstrong received runners up. Harriet Parkinson received the Coaches Award.

“We'd like to thank our players, the parents and friends of the club.  We have such an awesome town and an awesome club,” Kemp said.

The club had 85 registered players, umpires and team officials involved with netball throughout the year, and it’s hoping this will only grow next year.
