Thorpdale have come together in the wake of senior coach Jason Winderlich's neck injury on Saturday.
Thorpdale playing coach Jason Winderlich is reportedly "doing well" after surgery in Melbourne on Saturday night on his fractured neck incurred during Saturday's Mid Gippsland football clash against Toora.
The Thorpdale club and the league have regularly given updates on the 39 year-old's condition after he was airlifted to Melbourne about two hours after the injury suffered in the second quarter of the game.
The match was abandoned while his condition was stabilised at the ground by paramedics.
Winderlich had returned to coach the Thorpdale club where he started his football career as a junior, later being drafted by AFL club Essendon where he played 129 games.
As well as the best wishes that have flowed for Winderlich and his family from the Mid Gippsland and wider Gippsland football community they have also come from many of his former Essendon teammates and AFL opponents.
Thorpdale and Toora were each awarded two premiership points for the game that was abandoned with Toora holding a seven-point lead in the second quarter.
