Win for Women's Country team

Golf West Gippsland Women's Country Team had a win in division three at Shepparton last Tuesday.
Country team competition involves teams from different districts around Victoria to play match play against each other. Courses played this year were Mooroopna on Monday and Shepparton on Tuesday.
The team members were Suzanne von Strein, Delanie Lewis (Deep Creek), Melissa Alexander (Traralgon), Shirley Roberts and Leanne Pollard (Drouin), Kaye Middlemiss (Moe), Lynne Morrison (Warragul), June Tickell (Trafalgar) and Kerry Ahern (Warragul). Helen Amott was the team manager.
This year the country teams played in very wet and heavy conditions. There were disruptions to play on day one and the final day of play was abandoned due to water on the course .
West Gippsland was due to play Dalhousie on the Tuesday. Both teams had two wins after their previous matches but play was cancelled on Tuesday at Shepparton .
West Gippsland were declared the winners on a countback due to the number of games previously won. The division one and two teams did not get to play enough matches, so there is no elevation or relegation of all divisions this year.
The team members were presented with Golf Australia badges and a cup to put their name on.
Next year's country teams event will be played more locally in West Gippsland.
