Warragul hosts Gippies

More than 400 swimmers from seven Gippsland clubs descended on Warragul over the Labour Day weekend to compete in the 2025 Gippsland Swimming Championships.
Warragul finished in third place overall, behind Traralgon Swimming Club in first place and South Gippsland Bass Swimming Club in second place.
Warragul head coach Paul Myers was thrilled with the club's performance.
"Over the three days of the meet, we won three gold, 18 silver and 23 bronze medals. That's a great result for a club of our size," he said.
Stand out individual performers from Warragul included Eliza Biorci, Logan Gibson, Leila van Aswegen, Will Blackwood and Gen Dennis, who all won multiple individual medals.
"Isabelle Nash, Indi Joiner and Gen Dennis also swam qualifying times for the Australian National Championships, which is a massive achievement," said Myers.
He also noted that asides from medals, many swimmers swam personal best times or had other successes over the long weekend.
"For example, one of our younger swimmers, Charlotte, was disqualified from an event on the first day of competition. But she bounced back the next day and swam two personal best times. As a club we try and celebrate those little wins too. Resilience, good attitude and club culture are really important to us."
