Warragul United Soccer Club's senior women's team enjoyed a 2-1 victory over the second placed Aspendale Stingrays on Sunday in the State 4 league.
The highest ranked female team in Baw Baw are aiming for promotion and this win certainly puts them in good stead.
In tough, cold conditions, Warragul found themselves down 0-1 heading into the half-time break. The team was unlucky not to be in the lead after numerous opportunities in front of goal.
Warragul came out in the second half with a point to prove, completely outplaying the Stingrays. Two goals in quick succession to the ever reliable Mercedes Ince proved enough for the three points.
Coach Peter O'Dea was wrapped with the effort from all his players.
Best on ground went to Mercedes Ince, with special mentions to Stef Creedy and Rebekah Foulds in goals.
