Stars show signs in loss

Garfield put together one of their more encouraging performances of the year, putting up a solid fight in defeat against Phillip Island.
The drive down to Cowes Recreation Reserve has been like a trip to the slaughterhouse for lower ranked teams in recent times.
And while the Stars came to regret a poor defensive showing in the first quarter, they can at least say they showed some resistance as they were beaten 8.8 (56) to 16.12 (108).
Conceding seven goals in the first term alone, including the first five of the day, put the Stars behind the eight ball early and into a position they were never likely to recover from.
