Seagulls escape Bulldog comeback

A thriller between finals contenders highlighted round six as another team pushed into the top six for the first time this year.
Here's what you might have missed this week.
Tooradin-Dalmore vs Phillip Island
Aaaaand breathe, Seagulls fans.
Tooradin-Dalmore have escaped – just barely – with the four points on Saturday after a withering comeback from Phillip Island.
The Seagulls went from looking comfortable to absolutely terrified late as the Bulldogs made their move, the final siren coming just when they needed it to give them a tense 11.4 (70) to 9.14 (68) win.
The home side appeared to be doing it easy through the early stages of the day, leading by as much as 43 points halfway through the second quarter while the Bulldogs had just one goal to their name.
Never one to lie down, the Bulldogs refused to give up the ghost, dominating the third quarter and inching their way closer.
Their slow start could very well be put down to their almost month-long break after the quirks of the fixture left Phillip Island sitting on the sidelines since Easter.
A few fans may have been feeling some heart palpitations as Phillip Island drew to within two points late thanks to goals from Max Walton (four for the day) and Jack Taylor.
In the end accuracy was all that kept them from a famous comeback, their third quarter return of 5.7 proving costly by the final siren.
Lewis Hill, Cooper Shipp, Piva Wright, Liam Adams, Cooper Bassett and Jehi Esler were Tooradin-Dalmore's best.
Leading the charge for Phillip Island were Charlie and Hayden Bruce, Walton, Daniel Pearce, Jaymie Youle and Cam Pedersen on his return to the team.
Kilcunda Bass vs Cora Lynn
Cora Lynn continued to keep in touch with the top three after shrugging off a slow start to down Kilcunda Bass.
After conceding the first three goals of the day the Cobras were mostly in control thereafter, registering their fourth win of the year 10.17 (77) to 7.5 (47).
They were able to keep the Panthers scoreless while making their move in the second term before holding them at arm's length for the rest of the day.
Nathan Gardiner booted another four goals to stay atop the league goalkicking while big man William Thomas enjoyed an excellent day.
Jordan Butera, Heath and Jaxon Briggs, Gus Da Costa and Nicholas Pastras were all strong for Cora Lynn.
Jack Soroczynski, Lochlan and Steven Scott, Jack Rosenow, Nathan Foote and Timothy Gunn fought the good fight for Kilcunda Bass.
Inverloch-Kongwak vs Nar Nar Goon
The Nar Nar Goon train kept on rolling as they took down Inverloch-Kongwak away from home by 36 points.
It wasn't without plenty of challenges, however, as the Goon trailed by two points at the final change of ends before slamming home 6.2 to no score in the last to come out on top 10.10 (70) to 5.4 (34).
Dermott Yawney (five goals) was the main conduit to goal for Nar Nar Goon, providing a valuable target on a down day for some of the Goon's other forwards.
Somewhat surprisingly, it was the Goon's first ever win at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve.
That probably speaks to the strength of the Sea Eagles since the competition's inception in 2017. Unfortunately for them it's a strength that looks like it's waning as they are now wallowing at one win and four losses.
Challenging the reigning premiers for as long as they did is a positive for sure, but with games to come against top six sides Phillip Island and Warragul Industrials it's not going to get easier.
Jake Smith, Trent Armour, Nate Pipicelli, Flynn Parker, Yawney and Jacob Keysers were standouts for Nar Nar Goon.
Playing well for Inverloch-Kongwak were Jayden Sullivan, Joseph Nowell, Joe Soumilas, Jarvis Pryor, Ashton Hewitson and Tate Short.
Korumburra Bena vs Koo wee rup
Top six, say hello to Koo wee rup.
The Demons have pushed their way up the ladder courtesy of a 37-point win against Korumburra Bena.
Six of the first eight goals went the way of the visitors, setting them up for a fairly straightforward 11.14 (80) to 6.7 (43) victory.
You couldn't accuse the Giants of lacking effort as they tried to barge back into the contest but an early lead like that is killer for a team in their position.
Korumburra Bena are now a game adrift at the bottom of the ladder after Garfield broke through for their first win.
Nathan and Matthew Voss, Nathan Muratore, Dale Alanis, William Battams and Joshua Bateman all played well for Koo wee rup.
Korumburra Bena were best served by Guy Dickson, Tyler Newton, Jayden Deas, Jordan Ceppi, Matthew Borschman and Evan Allaway.
Bye: Warragul Industrials
