Panthers back on track

The top six continued to take shape on Saturday with another defining battle between two finals hopefuls.
Meanwhile, the top teams flexed their muscles in runaway thumpings.
Here's what you might have missed this week.
Kilcunda Bass vs Koo wee rup
Kilcunda Bass returned to the winners list and put a gap between themselves and seventh in the process as they held on for a 14-point win over Koo wee rup.
With both teams coming into the contest on three wins each it was the Panthers who held their nerve, a five goal to one third quarter the catalyst in their 11.9 (75) to 8.13 (61) win.
For their part the Demons put up a hell of a fight but were made to pay for their lapses in the famous premiership quarter, having no answers for Panthers big man Brody Connelly during that time.
Connelly (four goals) came to life in the third, booting three goals in a row to inspire his team to a defendable lead in a game that had been fought tooth and nail to that point.
The result leaves the Demons still a game outside the top six. With the Dusties' shock loss and their comparable percentage, however, their finals dream is far from over.
Angus McGillivray, Jack Soroczynski, Sam Watson, Lochlan Scott and Lleyton Cartmel all stood tall alongside Connelly for Kilcunda Bass.
Fighting hard for Koo wee rup were Matthew Voss, Mitchell Cammarano, Dale Alanis, Timothy Miller, Nathan Muratore and Bodie Delarue.
Tooradin-Dalmore vs Korumburra Bena
Top two remains in reach for Tooradin-Dalmore following a 59-point dispatching of Korumburra Bena at home.
Some powerful scoring displays across the second and final quarters set the Seagulls up for the four points, the gulf between the teams fairly evident.
The final score was 18.17 (125) to 10.6 (66) Tooradin-Dalmore's way.
Regardless of the defeat there were some good signs for the improving Giants, namely an encouraging third quarter in which they outscored the Seagulls 5.1 to 3.1 and keep some respectability on the scoreboard. Hard to see Korumburra Bena doing that 12 months ago.
Shane Savage and Jack Flannery both booted four goals for the home side to lead all comers.
Phillip Island vs Dalyston
Phillip Island were far too strong for Dalyston in a fairly unsurprising outcome.
Early signs were positive for the Magpies but it was all the Bulldogs thereafter, the home team kicking 15 goals to four after quarter time to win 19.15 (129) to 7.7 (49).
Hayden Bruce, Charlie Bruce, Jaymie Youle, Nick Anderson (five goals), Tyce Kleverkamp and Jay Ladson all impressed for Phillip Island.
Kyle Hutchison, Kurt Thomas, Mitch Hallahan, Bradley Tilley, Harry Howell and Michael Marotta flew the flag for Dalyston.
