Pakenham Eels to host rugby pre-season blockbusters
1 min read

The Pakenham Eels Rugby League Club will play host to the eastern conference of the "Storm Premiership" pre-season challenge this Saturday in what will be a big weekend for local rugby fans.
The Eels, who were established in 2016, are a competitor in the Storm Junior and Premiership Leagues, as well as the NRL League Touch for touch rugby.
Multiple big name Victorian clubs will be taking part at the Comely Banks Recreation Reserve in Officer, including the Frankston Raiders, Eastern Raptors, Waverly Oakleigh Panthers and the South Eastern Titans.
The day will also see the return of the SG Ball Cup to the ground, as the Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters under 19s teams do battle.
There will be a local flavour to the day as well, as the Pakenham under 16 and 18 sides take on Sunbury in a pre-season hit out.
It will be a taste of what's to come, with local rugby beginning their new season on April 29. The Pakenham Eels will be offering "come and try" sessions for prospective new players every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm.
The club has said it encourages everyone with any interest at all to get involved, whether it be to come down and watch on Saturday or get involved as a player. They also said they were on the lookout to get plenty of girls involved as they expand their women's program.
