The Warragul and District Cricket Association recently hosted a come and try day to get more girls involved in cricket.
Taking place at Bellbird Park on September 14, 27 girls between the ages of seven and 17 came together to practice their skills and learn new ones.
Some had previous experience in the WDCA girls program last season while others were giving the sport a try for the first time.
WDCA will again run an under 12s round robin competition for the girls and are also hoping to enter an under 15s team into the under 13s boys competition.
The association is keen to get enough girls signed up that they can get a standalone girls league up and running in the very near future.
The junior cricket season begins in October, beginning with the under 17s on October 10.
The under 12 girls will play on Friday nights and the under 15s on Wednesday nights.
Anyone hoping to get involved in the under 12s can contact Jess Sanders at jsand1999.js@gmail.com or call 0459959972.
For the under 15s contact John Allsop at jallsop143@hotmail.com or 0417666272.
