As the MGFNL approached the halfway mark of the season, it was becoming evident there were three distinct groups forming.
Foster, Fish Creek, Yinnar and MDU were looking like taking up the top four spots on the ladder, then a group of six more teams closely followed for the remaining two spots in the top six. This made the weekend's round absolutely crucial for all teams involved.
