The two sides of the draw crossed over for the first time on Saturday, with Longwarry and Buln Buln putting on a great A grade display as former teammates met.
The seeded draw has left a few questions about where teams sit and round six provided some good tests.
Longwarry remain in second place after a four-goal win over Buln Buln, as Tahlia Peterson lined up against her old club in her new Longwarry colours.
The Crows led at every change by a slim margin, highlighting their strong improvement under new coach Akayla Peterson. Goaler Catherine Hadkiss was best with 35 goals.
However, the Lyrebirds never gave up and were right in the contest throughout. They were led by Taylah Thomas who was on fire in the goal circle with a season high 33 goals. Their first win isn't far away.
Ellinbank was pushed by Lang Lang in the first half of their clash, unusually played on Thursday night.
Ahead of Lang Lang's "Ladies Day" function on Saturday, the senior teams met at Ellinbank, with scores level at quarter time.
With veteran Renalle Casey returning to the court to cover injuries, the Tigers came out firing and remained in the hunt. However, the Eagles settled and upped the pressure, with a 13 goal to two run either side of half-time establishing a strong lead. The Eagles held this double digit lead for the remainder of the game as the temperatures plummeted.
The weather wasn't much warmer on Saturday but it didn't deter the top sides.
Neerim South was too strong in its 63-26 win over Yarragon, Trafalgar are just one spot outside the top five after a 60-34 win over Catani, and Bunyip got its second win courtesy of a 53-26 result against Nyora.
Poowong stuck with Nilma Darnum for the first quarter of their game, highlighting the development underway. However, a 14 goal to one run in the second quarter broke the game open. The Bombers went on to win 62-33 with the defensive pair of Ondine Olsson and Nicole Mirams best on.
Round seven games: Lang Lang v Buln Buln, Longwarry v Ellinbank, Neerim South v Poowong, Yarragon v Nilma Darnum, Trafalgar v Nyora, and Catani v Bunyip.
