Hammond wins Drouin championship thriller
2 min read

Ryan Hammond won another Drouin Golf Club championship on the first hole of a sudden death play-off against Lachie Bambridge on Saturday.
After an enthralling third, and final, round in which both shot seven under par they finished tied on 206.
They started the round level but four birdies in the first five holes by Hammond opened a two-stroke lead, a margin he held through to the 9th hole making the turn in five under par.
It set the stage for a thrilling final nine holes with Bambridge, with three birdies, drawing level at six under par after the 12th.
Two bogeys by Bambridge and a birdie to Hammond over the next three holes restored the three-shot gap but Bambridge was by no means finished.
He strung together another three birdies but bogeyed the final hole to leave the scores level.
Returning to the first hole to start the play-off both were on the green in the regulation two shots.
Bambridge's putt for a birdie slipped past the left edge of the hole while Hammond was able to sink his putt to claim the title after what was seen as one of the most enthralling rounds played at Drouin.
Bambridge had some consolation by claiming the junior championship and the A grade handicap event over the 54 holes.
Phil Adams made a clean sweep in B Grade winning the scratch with a score of 247 and the handicap event with 214 nett.
To top off a great event for him he also claimed the senior championship. C Grade scratch was won by James Wagner (276) and the handicap by Connor Jeffries (223).
D Grade scratch winner was David Axford (292) while Rob Fredrickson won the handicap on 225.
Saturday's day event went to A grader Ben Jeffrey whose 67 nett was the best score of the day.
Connor Jeffries took out B Grade with a nett 71 and C Grade went to Rob Fredrickson with a nett 70.
