Gulls in the finals hunt

Warragul have enjoyed a solid year to date on the football field as their senior team chases their first finals appearance since 2016.
The Gulls have been building over the past two seasons under coach Jed Lamb and, now in his third year at the helm, have evolved into a genuinely competitive unit on the field.
Having just passed the halfway point of the season, the Gulls remain in the hunt just outside the top five with some vital fixtures to come that may very well decide the course of their season.
Much of that improvement has come from the club now having enough quality players and young up and comers to push out some senior regulars into the reserves.
It's been a while since you could say that about the Gulls, who have at times had to scrape together a twos team on a given weekend.
Led by senior stars like Tom Hobbs in the middle and Sean Masterson down back, the side has also been bolstered by strong performances from younger players like Riley Senini, Luke Garner and Keenan Boi.
The return of Brayden Fowler from an injury-riddled stint at Warragul Industrials also has proved a boon as the big man currently sits inside the top 10 in the league goalkicking.
Big wins over struggling sides Sale and local rivals Drouin certainly haven't hurt the percentage either.
Not everything has gone right - a non-competitive start cost them big time earlier this year against Morwell, before they failed another test against fellow finals hopeful Bairnsdale.
The Gulls will get chances at redemption against both over the next three weeks, with the results in those games going to either set them up beautifully or have them fighting a strong tide in the latter part of the year.
They'll also look to bridge the gap between themselves and the league's upper echelon after less than ideal showings against Traralgon and Leongatha.
Regardless, they're one to watch in the run home.
Warragul is also enjoying a strong year in both the thirds and fourths, with both teams on track for finals appearances.
The fourths began the year on fire, scoring five wins from their first six games. A couple of losses since then have seen them slip a little in the standings, but regardless they're going to be a major player in the run home.
Having two of the top goalkickers in Fraser Aubrey and Bill De Araugo helps.
The thirds, meanwhile, are also thereabouts as the club hunts a fourth under 18s grand final appearance in as many years.
