Gippy girls get involved
1 min read

Gippsland United Football Club hosted more than 40 young girls in a MiniTillies clinic designed to get girls into soccer and keep fit and active last week.
Participating in drills and games, the girls got a chance to experience the sport before enjoying a sausage sizzle and watching the Matildas in the club rooms.
The clinic, run by Football Victoria, was a part of the club's drive to increase female participation in the sport, with their numbers having grown exponentially over the past few years.
This year the club has been able to field three girls teams in the under 11s, 13,s and 15s, allowing them to provide a full pathway for girls from juniors to seniors for the first time. Additionally, their senior women's side has been promoted to State League 1 where they will compete against some of the best women's teams in the area.
Gippsland United vice president Stephen Andersen said the club was "absolutely rapt" to have so many girls attend the MiniTillies clinic.
"We had so many girls just here today, we really should have had more clinics in other areas and I reckon we could have had way more," he said.
The club are also planning the official opening of their newly developed carpark, which they are hoping to have up and running by the King's Birthday weekend.
