Feline fine as Cats crush Tigers

by Davyd Reid
Neerim-Neerim South remain the team to beat, kicking away after a competitive first term to account for Lang Lang 17-15 (117) to 7-5 (47).

The Tigers entered the contest with a plan to bring in more leg speed and lock down on the dynamic Mason McGarrity, but still the Cats proved too strong with free flowing second and final terms.
Lachlan Bambridge proved a handful in the air to finish with five goals, while McGarrity also got off the chain late to also finish with five majors.
McGarrity opened proceedings from a free kick before Aaron Hillberg snuck one in after being on the receiving end of a well weighted kick.
Dylan Gallasch capitalised after being thrown to the ground but the relief was short-lived, Kody Wilson finding McGarrity on the lead for another.
The Tigers closed within 14-points at the first change, only for the Cats to go on a second term charge that would realise the next five goals.
Bambridge put through three in a row either side of the break, his last shot just clearing the line.
It wasn't to be the Tigers' day, frustration creeping in as Marc Holt burst through to stroll towards goal, only to be run down by Tyler Pratt in the goal square.
McGarrity and Bambridge combined for the next three goals as the Cats headed for the long break with a handy 46-point buffer.
A torrid third term ensued with the Tigers putting through two goals to one, Holt making it two in a row when he snuck one in after being run into the fence.
A costly error of running through the mark gifted Lachlan Guy a goal as they turned for home with a 43-point advantage.
Bambridge, Pratt, Wilson, William Papley, Eddie McGillivray and Tyssen Morrow continued to press the advantage for the Cats.
Brad Harding continued to try hard for the Tigers, and he broke through for the first goal of the final term.
Also among the better players for Lang Lang were Troy Dolan, Bailey Galante, Mitchell Davey, Josh Brown and Kaden Finlay Smith.
Ayden Ramm put one through from the boundary before Holt converted from an impressive contested mark, both sides trading goals in an entertaining patch.
McGarrity would put through two more goals with majors to Hillberg and Wilson rounding out the final five goals to the Cats.
