Easter footy on offer in West Gippsland league

It's the Easter weekend but there's no rest for the West Gippsland footy, as we enjoy a split round that will see two of round three's games played this weekend.
The other three will be played the week after. But for now, let's look at the two games on offer on Saturday.
Inverloch-Kongwak vs Cora Lynn
Time: 2:20pm

Location: Inverloch Recreation Reserve
It's been a dream start to the season for Inverloch-Kongwak, racking up back-to-back 49-point wins to sit second on the ladder going into round three.
The Sea Eagles, who entered the new season as one of the premiership favourites following a strong 2021, have done exactly what has been expected of them so far, dismissing both Korumburra-Bena and Koo Wee Rup with little to no trouble.
Seven goals to Toby Mahoney last week was the highlight, but make no mistake, Inverloch-Kongwak boast an extremely deep squad full of players ready to contribute.
An interesting challenge presents itself this week, however, in the form of Cora Lynn.
The Cobras, who have in recent times been one of the league's stronger sides, haven't been able to open their account in season 2022 under new coach Shaun Sparks, though not for a lack of trying.
A brutally close loss to the all-conquering Phillip Island in round one was promising, but a loss last week to Bunyip has left them 0-2 in a season that may quickly see them left behind if they don't get moving.
The lack of two-time league leading goalkicker Nathan Gardiner has hurt Cora Lynn's scoring prowess, though they're defensively solid enough to challenge most sides in the WGFNC.
Inverloch-Kongwak's home ground advantage, combined with their firepower, will be difficult for Cora Lynn to overcome but the Cobras certainly won't go down without a fight.
Phillip Island vs Kilcunda Bass
Time: 2:20pm
Location: Cowes Recreation Reserve

The season is building nicely for last year's top team, Phillip Island notching two wins from their first two games.
As the premiers of 2018/19 as well as the minor premiers of 2021 before the season's abrupt end, nobody has been surprised to see the Bulldogs undefeated thus far, though it hasn't been entirely smooth sailing.
A tight five-point win in round one showed Phillip Island may be mortal, though a professional performance in round two saw them see off Warragul Industrials without much trouble.
Round three may just see the Bulldogs licking their lips as they come up against a Kilcunda Bass side with very mixed results in the early rounds of 2022.
The Panthers were demolished in their round one match against Tooradin-Dalmore and, though they secured their first win last week, they barely scraped by a Dalyston side that's not exactly known for troubling the good teams.
It will likely take a masterclass from new Kilcunda Bass coach Lee Rowe to secure a win in this game, as the challenge of beating Phillip Island on their home deck has long proven too much for even the strongest of teams.
