Dusties thirds out

Warragul Industrials' thirds had their premiership dreams ended in brutal fashion on Saturday in a heavy loss to Nar Nar Goon.
The elimination final between the third-placed Goon and sixth-placed Dusties showed the gap between the competition's top teams and those who had to fight their way into finals as the Goon booted 10 goals to one in the first half.
Although it was a much more even second half the damage was already done, the Dusties heading home beaten 5.7 (37) to 16.6 (102).
While the final result may have appeared shockingly one-sided, the ladder tells a different story. The Goon finished in third on 13 wins, just two points behind Inverloch-Kongwak in second. The Dusties, meanwhile, made it in on seven wins and nine losses.
The Warragul Industrials side featured several players who have not only contributed at senior level but starred, just showing the breadth of talent Nar Nar Goon have at their disposal.
Leading the way for them were Ryder Kaminski, Oliver Ratten, Oliver Ockwell-Payne, Tarrant Millar, Cooper Becker and Clancy Pope, who kicked a game-high four goals.
Nar Nar Goon will next face Tooradin-Dalmore as they try to replicate their senior side's exploits from last year and win a flag from outside the top two.
The Dusties were best served by Jarrod West, Rylan Butler, Regan Awty, Ky Bannister, John Huggins and Henry Brooks.
There's still hope for the club in the form of their fourths side, who enjoyed a week off after finishing on top of the ladder.
They'll play Nar Nar Goon at Western Park this week for a chance to go straight through to the grand final.
