Dusties out to control Cobras in West Gippsland finals

It's week two of the finals in the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition, and the two matches on offer are shaping up to be classics.
In one, we have what many see as a grand final preview, while in the other an underdog will be looking to stop one of the state's most damaging country league footballers.

Tooradin-Dalmore vs Phillip Island
Location: Inverloch Recreation Reserve
The top two teams face off once again this week, with the winner to go straight through to the grand final.
Tooradin-Dalmore and Phillip Island, as the two runaway premiership favourites, met each other twice throughout the season, with both sides grabbing one win apiece. The Seagulls' loss to the Bulldogs in round 16 proved to be their only defeat for the season as they otherwise managed to stay perfect.
Phillip Island, meanwhile, suffered just one other defeat throughout the year, leaving these two sides as the clear one and two seed.
Given the winner will enjoy a week off and a guaranteed grand final spot and the loser will be forced to fight for another week to earn their place, a win here could go a very long way to ensuring the ultimate victory come the day of the decider.
Most other clubs in the competition would give anything to have lists as stacked with talent as these two, and fans should be in for an absolute treat as they go head to head.
It will be interesting to see how these two stack up against each other at a neutral venue, as both managed their wins against one another on their respective home decks. Both the Seagulls and the Bulldogs were almost unbeatable at home throughout the season, but without a clear home ground advantage here it'll come down to who can be cleaner in the big moments.
For many pundits this is the grand final preview, a view only strengthened by the fact that third and fourth were both knocked out in the elimination finals last week. There's a decent chance this one will go down to the wire, but whoever does take the win will absolutely be going into the final match of the year as the favourite.

Warragul Industrials vs Cora Lynn
Location: Cora Lynn Recreation Reserve
In a surprising turn of events last week the lower-ranked seed managed to win both elimination finals, leaving us with the Warragul Industrials taking on Cora Lynn.
The Dusties put in one of their finest performances of the season, particularly on the defensive end, to take out Inverloch-Kongwak. The significance of that victory is difficult to understate, given the quality of the opposition.
To taste victory in their first final since joining the WGFNC is a sweet feeling for the club, particularly since they finished bottom of the table the last time the competition managed a full season.
That defensive application is absolutely going to be necessary this week, however, as they have one mission in mind this week: stop Nathan Gardiner.
The Cobras' three-time league leading goalkicker has been on an absolute tear, kicking 41 goals in just his past five games. In last week's final, Nar Nar Goon were left utterly helpless as he became a one-man wrecking ball, kicking eight goals to destroy their season.
He's been a big reason as to why Cora Lynn have won 13 of their last 14 games, and if the Dusties want to win here, they simply must keep him in check. Keeping him quiet is a near impossible task, but limiting his influence on the game will go a long way.
One only needs to look at when these two sides met in the final round of the season, where Gardiner booted seven of his team's 10 goals as they just barely pipped the Dusties by nine points.
Further complicating things for Warragul though is the fact this will essentially be a Cora Lynn home game. The Cobras play their home ground very well, and will be quite a challenge in a cutthroat final.
The Dusties have already proven plenty of people wrong this season, it just remains to be seen if they can do it again.
