Drouin Croquet Club president Barbara Mitchell welcomed players to the club's annual level doubles tournament on Saturday October 21.
Players travelled from Ringwood, Warragul, Sale, Portland, Drouin, Korumburra and Phillip Island to contest the event.
Due to entries being down this year both blocks of players repeated the draw on the Sunday.
Block one was won by the Warragul combination of Julie Beasley handicap two and Heather Lees on a handicap of six, winning this block, six games, net +21 hoops.
Runners-up were Ray Biffin from the Phillip Island club, handicap six and Drouin's Cris Musgrove handicap 10 on a double countback from Ringwood's Ed Chatwin handicap six and his partner Antoinette Green of Portland on a handicap of nine.
Both pairs were level on games at four wins each and also a net score of +4 hoops, however, when reverting back to games played against one another the Biffin/Musgrove combination were +2.
Block two saw the Sale pairing of Mary Tabrah handicap eight, and Mark Vitlin handicap 11 win this section with six wins, net hoops +11 from Jenny Leesing (Drouin) handicap 10 and Helen Bolton (Warragul) handicap 11 scoring five wins, and net hoops eight.
Members are reminded that club championships will be conducted throughout November with the final being played on December 9 at the club's Christmas BBQ.
