Drouin's fourths were forced to settle for two points on Saturday after playing out a stunning draw against Wonthaggi.
Having trailed for much of the day the Hawks defied a 12-point deficit at the final change to seriously threaten a famous away victory but were denied by the siren, the score 10.2 (62) to 9.8 (62).
Accuracy played a large role in keeping the Hawks in with a shot, and though they'll no doubt be disappointed not to have secured their first win of the year they have something to work with moving forward.
Rory Vanderplight was best on for the Hawks, along with Saxon Stark, Bodhi Pitt, Charlie Adamiak, Joab Ferguson (three goals) and Koby McLeish.
Warragul's fourths kept their unblemished record intact thanks to a 23-point win over Sale.
A run of four straight goals in the second term set up the 12.6 (78) to 8.7 (55) result, the Gulls able to keep the Magpies at bay for the rest of the day.
Sale looked primed to work their way back into the game several times, including early in the last when they drew to within 10 points.
But for every question they had Warragul had the answer, always finding the goal they needed to keep their buffer intact.
Bill De Araugo booted three goals to lead all comers, two coming in the final quarter when the match was there to be won.
Jake Boote, Nate Young, Jordy Winduss, Fraser Aubrey, Dean Brown and Harvie Dennis were the Gulls' strongest.
In other fourths results Traralgon annihilated Morwell 26.25 (181) to 0.0 (0), Bairnsdale held off Leongatha 7.10 (52) to 7.3 (45) and Maffra pipped Moe 7.11 (53) to 8.2 (50).
Drouin's thirds are sitting in fifth position following a battling 14-point win against Wonthaggi.
The Hawks built their lead early before being forced to defend late, holding their nerve despite not registering a goal in the final term.
The 10.4 (64) to 7.8 (50) result sees them move to two and one for the year, a solid result given how reliant the senior side has been on their players at times.
Best on for Drouin were Ewan Croucher, Brody Rogers, Jesse Etchell, Jaxon Huston (three goals), Saxon Stark and William Virtue.
Warragul's thirds are the last men standing without a loss to their name having dispatched Sale to the tune of 70 points.
The visitors did it easy throughout the 13.10 (88) to 3.0 (18) thrashing, booting the first six goals of the day and never looking back.
It leaves the reigning premiers atop the ladder with a whopping percentage of 662.50 and in nice form as they look to go back-to-back.
Xavier Olsson, Caleb McIntosh, Tom Logan, Noah McDonald, Leo Robley and Finn Sheehan were all immense for Warragul.
Elsewhere in the thirds Traralgon destroyed Morwell 22.18 (150) to 0.2 (2), Bairnsdale beat Leongatha 6.5 (41) to 5.5 (35) and Moe upset Maffra 11.3 (69) to 6.6 (42).
Warragul's reserves couldn't back up their first win of the year as they were beaten handily by Sale.
Warragul were held to just one goal in the first half on their way to a 5.3 (33) to 14.8 (92) defeat.
They couldn't quell the influence of Magpie Hayden Potts, who finished with five goals to be one of Sale's best.
Luke Garner and Jack Casson pressed their cases for senior selection, as did Scott Kelly, Vincent Kuol, Michael Lynn and Lachlan Miller.
It was another dark day for Drouin's reserves in a one-sided defeat against Wonthaggi.
Drouin kicked one goal in the first term and weren't able to find another one for the rest of the day, the final score 1.3 (9) to 21.14 (140).
The Hawks have now been held to just four goals across their first three matches.
Trying hard all day were Cody Fleming, Peyton Saddington, Darcy Olivier, Charlie Stone, Flynn Bethune and Isaac Taylor.
In other reserves results Traralgon thumped Morwell 14.10 (94) to 6.7 (43), Leongatha accounted for Bairnsdale 13.15 (93) to 3.2 (20) and Moe defeated Maffra 7.7 (49) to 6.4 (40).
