It was a successful Sunday on the field for the Warragul Industrials youthies teams with both the under 16s and youth girls taking home sizeable wins.
The youth girls faced off with Newborough away from home in a grand final rematch, dealing with some tough opposition with aplomb to come out 8.12 (60) to 0.0 (0) winners.
The scoreboard didn't tell the full story of the day, as Newborough brought enough pressure to make the Dusties dig deep at times.
Despite that it was total control on the scoreboard for the reigning premiers, who currently sit on top of the division one ladder.
Brooke Olsen led the way in the ruck, consistently competing in contests and delivering effective hit-outs while the the midfield trio of Molly Boulter, Kira Wilson, and Amy Boote worked hard to clear the ball and maintain forward momentum.
Abbey Wilson and Hayley Waite applied relentless pressure on the ball, helping control the midfield and limit Newborough's movement.
Jade Smorenburg was impactful, starting off the backline and rotating through the midfield to keep ball movement flowing. Her quick rotations, clean hands, and smart positioning were vital in intercepting play.
Despite having no bench, every Warragul Industrials player stepped up, showing resilience and teamwork.
The day began in positive fashion for the visitors who, despite some early misses, as Boote and Tilly Percy fired through the first two goals of the day in quick succession.
That lead only pushed out further in the second with goals to Brooke Olsen, Alishia Jamieson, Gypsie Quaiffe and Amy Boote. Boote's was a highlight of the term, as the Dusties' defensive pressure created a turnover which they were able to chain to Boote, who nailed the shot on the run.
A stronger defensive effort from Newborough past half time made Warragul Industrials work for their scores, but in the end the Dusties were too good, breaking the game open late to register a big win.
Earlier in the day, the Dusties under 16s team saw off a challenge from Inverloch-Kongwak to keep their own unbeaten streak alive.
In perfect conditions the Dusties were too strong defensively, holding the Sea Eagles to one goal in a 7.4 (46) to 1.4 (10) win.
Inverloch-Kongwak started well, challenging the Dusties' backline with solid pressure and physical play.
The home side responded with great speed, physical tackling, and composed ball movement. Quarter three saw Inverloch-Kongwak dominate field position, but the Dusties' backline showed relentless grit, keeping them scoreless despite the pressure.
In the final term, the Dusties came out firing, kicking three goals and finishing with authority.
The Dusties continue to dominate, showcasing resilience, structure, and a team-first mentality to close out another impressive win.
