Diggers Day at Drouin
1 min read

The Drouin and Warragul RSL Diggers Day attracted 28 teams to Drouin Bowling Club on Saturday.
The biggest day on the club's calendar, 14 rinks were filled with teams from a wide range of clubs to enjoy the great facilities, hospitality and lunch on offer.
The day commenced with the traditional "Stand To" while a bugler played the Reveille and Last Post, followed by a minute silence being observed in memory of servicemen and women. Tribute was also paid to past event organiser Max Hine who died late last year.
In cool and occasionally showery conditions, three games of 12 ends were played. Despite the competitive nature of the games, there was wonderful comradery as bowlers caught up.
Only three team won all three games. Winners were a Korumburra team skipped by Robert Sund, Brian Pepperell, Roger Balment and Charlie Edgarton.
Runner-up was the Neerim District team of David Wilson, Trevor Kurnell, Heather Guppy and Terry Giffin and third place was the local Drouin team comprising Geoff Bailey, Jan Aubrey, Graeme Aubrey and Ron Westrup.
