A depleted Warragul Industrials were able to show their depth on Saturday as they took out a commanding 48-point win over division newcomers Bonbeach on Saturday evening at Western Park.
The 7.12 (54) to 1.0 (6) victory was set up by a second term blitz from the home side, kicking four consecutive goals to put the result to bed.
Coming into a chilly evening against the newly elevated Bonbeach side, the Dusties were missing several senior regulars including Tia Jenkins, Shanelle Kingston, Chelsea Sutton, Charlize Dent (all playing for Gippsland Power), Chloe Bailey (VFLW), Nikia Webber, Shanae Hawker (both injured) and Jess Szalek (unavailable).
Bonbeach began the game full of energy and looked determined to cause a major upset, having claimed just one win prior.
The Dusties had many opportunities to score a goal in the first quarter but were very inaccurate, kicking multiple behinds.
Bonbeach then kicked the first goal of the game through quick transition from their back half.
Despite that, Warragul Industrials were able to reset, bouncing back with four second quarter goals to open up a lead at the half.
The third quarter wasn't a great spectacle for those in attendance, with Bonbeack flooding back in numbers to clog up the game and keep the Dusties from scoring.
At three quarter time the Dusties coaches rejigged things on the field, allowing their side to work their way through the spares and finish off the day with three more goals.
Abbie Hoiberg-Cox again starred for the Dusties, as did midfield twins Alishia and Elise Molesworth.
Monai Porykali played a strong hand, as did ruck Remy Ferguson in her best game yet in division one. Sophie Scalzo kicked three goals to lead the scoring. Unfortunately, the win came at a cost with injuries to Michaela Williams, Melina Eppel and Kaitlyn Carew.
The division one team are now sitting second on the ladder behind Mornington. This week it is back to Pearcedale for a 2pm Saturday game.
Following the division one team the Dusties division two team suffered a tough loss to Mt. Eliza, the final score 0.0 (0) to 7.12 (54).
The reserves side felt the weight of the missing players in the senior side, with several of their top line players called up for division one action.
The Dusties will continue their search for their first win in division two this Saturday at Kinetic Stadium against Frankston with a 10am start.
