More than 50 bowlers took part in Warragul Bowling Club's Melbourne Cup triples event last Tuesday.
The 54 players represented clubs from Traralgon, Traralgon RSL, Trafalgar, Boolarra, Yinnar, Pakenham, Vermont South, Mitcham, Yarragon and Warragul.
Despite the weather forecast, the day went well until about 3.45pm when a thunderstorm hit. This resulted in the last game having to be ruled off at eight ends.
There were four three-game winners on the day.
Winners on the day were the Warragul team of Peter Gallasch (skip), Daniel Sheehan and Bianca Sheehan, with three wins and 29 shots up.
Second place went to the Traralgon/Boolarra team of Vinnie McIllwain (skip), Steve Davy and Joelene Laukens, with three wins and 21 shots up.
In third place were the Warragul team of Jim Moyle (skip), Ian Belling and Binny Slate, with three wins and 15 shots up.
Julie Klien's team from Yinnar also gained three games, but didn't have enough shots up to get in the money.
Best game for the day went to another Warragul team of David Gatewood (skip), Tony Wynd and Heather Baker with 28 shots up.
