Neerim-Neerim South maintained its unbeaten record, but it didn't come without a challenge from a determined Buln Buln side.
The Cats were eventually able to steady in the second half to win 7-7 (49) to 3-8 (26) in a match played in challenging conditions.
With club stalwart Matt Gray lining up in game 250, the Lyrebirds challenged themselves to show they could match it with the ladder leader and for the most part they were able to.
