Burgmann winds back the clock in division two

Garfield-Tynong (6/191) def. Drouin (117)

Tate Burgmann gave yet another reminder of his immense talent on the weekend as the Garfield-Tynong veteran's half-century provided the necessary impetus for the Titans to claim a 74-run win over Drouin in their season opener.
Along for the ride was Kasun Ranasinghe, and the duo's 103-run third-wicket stand took away whatever early innings momentum Drouin might have gathered through claiming early wickets.
Ranasinghe was eventually dismissed for 35 looking to pierce the off-side field (only to be sharply caught by Mitch Goodwin at point), but Burgmann (57) helped carry his side to 6/191 at the end of their 40 overs.
Garfield-Tynong skipper Matthew Dodman had nothing but praise for Burgmann, with his innings just reward for a player who has long contributed off-field to the rise of the club in the WDCA.
"Good to see 'Father Time' wind back the clock. If anything, we were undermanned too so great to see him come in and play a part. Just happy with our ability do the basics well," Dodman said.
Ricky Mitchell (3/18 from 8) provided the perfect start for the Titans with the ball, trapping Joshua Reeve in front for just four, and Hayden Porter caught the edge of Jack McConville's bat the next over to have Drouin in trouble at 2/13.
Timewell (a typically aggressive 29, including a swathe of leg-side boundaries off Krishan Rangajith) and Matthew Stevens (27 from just 33) tried their best to inspire a successful pursuit but Brayden Ridler (3/21) and Rangajith (2/26) were able to make regular breakthroughs that were too much for the Hawks to overcome, dismissed for 117 in the 33rd over.
