A revamped arena and ideal weather were the perfect stage for a successful annual dressage competition by the West Gippsland Adult Riding Club.
Sixty-one riders took to the arena at the Baw Baw Equestrian Centre at Lardner, that was in excellent order after works by Baw Baw Shire council, with many clubs from throughout Gippsland and from as far as Geelong represented.
The competitions from level five to advanced rising enabled riders to earn points to qualify for higher level as well as win trophies on the day.
In addition to the level competitions the "jackpot" was keenly contested with riders judged and awarded points in two sections.
WARC president Robyn Neville said great support from local sponsors including several rural and horse equipment suppliers, a real estate agency, car dealership and a concreting business contributed significantly to the day's success.
She said the club also was delighted with comments of visiting riders about the quality of the surface and infrastructure with the grounds committee now looking into making the centre available for use by other horse riding clubs in the region.
