A new competition has begun for pickleball at the Warragul Badminton Stadium.
Warragul pickleball began in April at the Warragul Badminton Club in Galloway Street under the Warragul Badminton banner.
It began with one two-hour session, but it wasn't long before a second session was introduced to cover the growing interest in social sport.
The club now have social sessions on Tuesday morning from 10:30am to 12:30pm, Tuesday afternoon 1pm to 3pm, Thursday evening 5pm to 6pm and Friday morning 10am to 12pm where anyone can turn up. Equipment is available and no experience is needed.
A new Thursday night competition running for eight weeks commenced on October 9. Eight teams of four players played at the Warragul Badminton Club.
The teams were graded, and it appears that the selectors graded well.
The two teams are Ball Bashers, comprising of team members Paul Brealey, Colleen Heatley, John Heatley and Lisa Bloxidge, and Rally Rebels, made up of Jim Wilkinson, Ann Berry, Steve Tailby and Cath Tailby.
At the end of the night the sides were six games each, with Ball Bashers 97 points to Rally Rebels 104 points, which gave Rally Rebels the win
Some very close games in other matches saw an exciting first week of competition.
If you would like further information about our sessions, contact Jean 0409 595896 or Chris Higgs 0474 255001 or follow the club on Facebook at Warragul Pickleball.
