Take a musical journey with West Gippsland Chorale

The West Gippsland Chorale will perform it's first concert series of 2025 at the Wesley of Warragul this Sunday and Friday, May 8.
Led by musical director Nathan Byrne and accompanied by Chris Sim at the piano, the theme of the May concert series is "Journeys: There and Back Again".
The choir has been on a musical journey together for 40 years, which was celebrated at a number of sell out performances in the 2024 season.
In 2025, several new singers have joined the choir, ready to embark on their next musical journey.
"Journeys: There and Back Again" explores all aspects of the concept, from physical journeys to the journey through various life-stages and experiences.
Audience members are invited to enjoy the theme with the chorale and think about what the intriguing phrase means to them personally.
The program will include works from composers and songwriters as varied and diverse as Guiseppe Verdi right through to Billy Joel.
Journeys enjoyed and interpreted through music include Earnest Shackleton's journey of exploration through the Antarctic, a mystical mountain path in a Korean folk song, and even the journeys into sleep or a different life path are explored. Movie lovers are bound to enjoy "May it Be" from "The Lord of the Rings" and Carly Simon's "Let the Rivers Run".
Musical director Nathan is an experienced choral, classroom, and instrumental music teacher, currently teaching at the St Paul's Anglican Grammar School Traralgon campus.
He is also well known for his involvement in community musical theatre in director and vocal coach roles.
Accompanist Chris has performed locally and in Melbourne for many years, completing her formal music education at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Chris teaches music theory and piano privately as well as accompanying both chamber and solo engagements.
The chorale will perform two concerts of "Journeys: There and Back Again" at the Wesley of Warragul, a fantastic venue for the choir to share music with the community and nurture quality performance opportunities for younger performers and solo choir members alike.
The first concert will be held on Sunday, May 4 at 2pm, followed by an evening performance on Friday, May 9 at 8pm.
