Students make Anzac special for aged care

Students from Marist Sion College in Warragul made the Anzac commemoration special for residents of four aged care homes.
Four teams of student leaders conducted services at Abbey Gardens, Cooinda Lodge, Fairview Village and Warragul Aged Care on Anzac Day eve last Thursday.
Abbey Gardens' oldest resident, 102 year-old Gwen Ireland, along with fellow resident Gwen Mulconry, laid wreaths at the base of a pole flying the Australian flag in the courtyard alongside wreaths laid on behalf of Warragul RSL and Marist Sion.
About 60 residents were joined by staff and visitors for the ceremony led and conducted by the students.
They presented the welcome and introduction, a commemorative address, a poem and the ode with Marist Sion house head and music teacher Andrew Gordon trumpeting the Last Post and Rouse.
Mr Gordon also is a member of the Australian Army Band in Melbourne.
The students involved in the ceremony at Abbey Gardens were Julian Singh, Brodie Brasier, Angus Dunsmuir, Clair Schultz and Olivia Standfield.
Marist Sion teams at the other venues were: Warragul Aged Care - William Holz, Rylee Somerville, Mandy Yako, Lucas Demicoli and Alana Magyar and staff Natasha Gay-Wilson and Natahlia Poli; Cooinda Lodge - Kayla Condratoff, Dane Hammond, Leith Metcalf and Joel Thompson and staff Phillip Jeffrey and Rebecca Taylor; and, Fairview Village - Eva Barry, Oliver Turner, Carlie Nightingale, Riley Senini and Joshua Bradley with staff Paul Ellis and Chris Senini.
