Strikers come out firing

Gippsland Strikers had one win and a draw last week.
Seniors:
Strikers 4 def by Melton 7.
The Strikers came out firing, jumping to an early 3–0 lead thanks to a sharp reverse stick finish from Sam Tyson and a pair of clinical goals from Matt Zurrer.
But, momentum swung late in the first half, with Melton piling on three goals in a five-minute burst to even the score. Basic errors proved costly as the game opened up in the second half, and Melton took full advantage.
Mark Robjant added a highlight moment with a signature Tarky Bear special - a high deflection that sailed over the keeper's head.
Despite falling behind, the Strikers showed heart and kept pushing to the final whistle, eventually going down 4–7 in a high-scoring battle.
Plenty of positives to take forward, with the team's recent additions adapting well to the level and continuing to improve each week.

Strikers 3 def Croydon Ranges 1.
Goal scorers: Strikers: T Boltong, O Fallon, G Hazell.
In a thrilling Friday night clash, the Gippsland Strikers faced a determined Croydon Ranges side at Yarra Valley Grammar.
From the first whistle, it was clear both teams came ready to compete, resulting in a well-matched, nail-biter that kept supporters on the edge of their seats.
The Strikers showed impressive attacking flair, launching wave after wave of pressure. However, Croydon's defence held firm for much of the match, displaying strong organisation and resilience.
Despite this, the Strikers broke through with a final score of 3-1, securing a well-earned victory.
A standout all-round team performance was key to the win. The halfback line of Caleb Ballantyne, Kyra Burke, and Ailish Furphy played a critical role, turning Croydon's attacks around time and again with solid defensive work and smart distribution.
Among the game's highlights was Oliver Fallon's brilliant flick over the goalie's head, which brought the crowd to life. Also adding their names to the scoresheet were Tyler Boltong and Georgia Hazell, each contributing vital goals to seal the win.
The Strikers head to Dandenong this weekend to take on Brunswick, another big test as the season continues to heat up.
