Police appear to have halted a break-in at a Yarragon business early on Monday morning.
Officers patrolling in Yarragon reported a dark coloured Toyota SUV in the vicinity of Gippsland Food and Wine on the Princes Hwy at about 1.30am.
The vehicle, with a driver and passenger, quickly fled.
Police said a front door window panel of the business had been smashed. Nothing was stolen.
Nearby, Discover India Restaurant also had a front door window smashed. It was found $50 from a tip jar, $100 cash and a television were stolen.
It is believed the burglary occurred between 1am and 1.30am.
