Students at St Paul's Anglican Grammar School's Drouin Campus have rolled up their sleeves to embrace hands-on learning through their 'Hands on Habitat' unit, taking an active role in the exciting development of a new 'Kitchen Garden' on campus.
Prep to year three students took their first steps in designing and planning the garden, marking the beginning of a project that will nurture both wellbeing and community connection.
One group of students brainstormed vegetables to grow, while another mapped out the garden layout. A larger compost bin was installed to complement the smaller ones already in use to support the school's focus on sustainability.
The project is designed to support student wellbeing and give young learners the chance to personalise their learning through real-world, purposeful experiences while encouraging them to work collaboratively, connect with the environment and explore sustainable practices.
The school's hope is that as the garden grows, so too will student confidence, creativity and care for their environment.
