As winter sets in across the region, Baw Baw Food Relief is asking the community to help support local families facing food insecurity.
Baw Baw Food Relief volunteers will be at the Palmerston St kiosk in Warragul on Saturday accepting donations for the "Winter Warmth Appeal".
The kiosk will be open from 10am to 1pm. People are encouraged to donate warming canned food such as soups or stews, other non-perishable items as well as vegetables. Monetary donations also are welcome.
Baw Baw Food Relief community relations co-ordinator Mark Cleeman said donations could help "bring dignity back to someone's table" and ensure essential items reached the people that needed them most.
"At Baw Baw Food Relief, we see it first hand, parents skipping meals so their children can eat, the elderly choosing between heating and groceries, and people in our community doing their best to get by with far too little," he said. "Every day, our shelves grow emptier as demand grows higher."
"Together, we can share the warmth this winter, not just through food, but through compassion."
