Unveiling the new "Government in Session" sign at Neerim South Hotek are (from left) Neil Olsen, Chris Heukh, Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham, hotel proprietor Jason Williams, Robbie Wilson, Phil Mapleson and Mal Collins. The signage was the idea and donation of local Darren Christie (absent).
The Friday night 'parliament' at Neerim South Hotel has become a tradition in recent years and now the sessions have been formalised.
A group of locals gather to discuss the events of the week, with a particular focus on politics and government. Like parliament, the quality of debate ranges from sensible and considered discussion to fringe opinions on various topics.
To formalise the discussion venue, Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham attended a recent "sitting" and unveiled new signage with proprietor Jason Williams to formalise the dedicated debate zone on Friday nights - Government in Session, Members Only.
From now on, the sign will go up every Friday night to both warn other patrons of heated discussion about politics and encourage potential new participants to join in the debate.
